PURPOSE:To check easily the identify of an ID card owner by recording previously picture data for collation on the card. CONSTITUTION:When the picture data is written on a card 1, the pictures to be collated are supplied through an image pickup means 5 and compressed at a picture data processing part 6. At the same time, the data with which the features are extracted are written on the card 1. Such a card 1 is produced for each person M to be collated in the form of an ID card. Then the owner of the ID card 1 puts the card 1 into a card reader 3. The reader 3 reads the picture data written on the card 1 and restored them to the prescribed picture data through the part 6 to display them on a monitor display 12. Then an operator O compares the picture displayed on the display 12 with the subject picture photographed by TV camera 13 and displayed on a monitor display 14 to decide the identify of the person M.
