PURPOSE:To enable automatic addressing to aging with the correction of the sensitivity of an acoustic emission (AE) sensor, by adjusting the sensitivity of the AE sensor with a pseudo breakage signal generator while the breakage level is memorized and learned when the tool is broken actually. CONSTITUTION:An AE sensor 6 is provided near a tool 2 and breakage is identified with a signal processing section 7 based on the output signal of the AE sensor 6. When the breakage of the tool is detected, the breakage signal is applied to a CPU 9 to be memorized into a RAM 11 while the sensitivity of the AE sensor 6 is automatically corrected to the optimum value, based on the AE signal level at the breaking of the tool in the RAM 11. Thus, the sensitivity of the AE sensor 6 once adjusted with the generator 4 is corrected to meet the actual application requirements thereby enabling the adjustment to the optimum value. |
