PURPOSE:To prevent any color shift of a color cathode-ray tube from occurring by increasing the physical strength of the shadow mask and facilitating its formation by making the shadow mask consist of several surfaces divided by ridgelines and extending parallel to a suppositive shadow mask surface. CONSTITUTION:A round shadow mask is designed in such a manner that it extends parallel to a round face plate 10. It consists of several continuous surfaces 23 divided by ridgelines 22. It is recommended that the number of the ridgelines 22 be 1-4 for a 14-inch color cathode-ray tube and 1-9 for a larger color cathode-ray tube. Due to the above structure of the shadow mask 11, its resistance against doming is as high as the doming resistance of a conventional step shadow mask. Therefore, it is possible to prevent any color shift of a color cathode-ray tube which might result from the doming of the shadow mask 11. |
