PURPOSE:To improve the system working efficiency by ejecting an erroneous form and starting the feed of the next form with no intervention of an operator as long as the error is slight. CONSTITUTION:When an error occurs, a mechanism control part 9 searches an error code table 10 to decide the type of the error. If the recovery-unable errors like a jam, a double feed, etc. are decided, the generation of such errors is informed to an external device 5. Then the feed of forms is stopped and the device 5 delivers an alarm to an operator to urge the recovery of the error. When the part 9 decides such recovery-enable errors a skew error, a form error, a breakage error, etc., the rejection of reading is informed to the device 5. A waiting mode is set and kept until the next ejection instruction is received. When the ejection instruction is received, the erroneous form put presently on its carrying route is ejected. Then the feed of the next form is started.
