PURPOSE:To improve vertical recording characteristics and the yield of products by adding an auxiliary electrode during recording. CONSTITUTION:When recording is carried out, an annular head 10 with a coil 5 wound around a high-permeability magnetic material 1 is placed on one side of a vertical magnetic recording medium substrate 4 and a vertical anisotropic magnetic film 3 and an auxiliary magnetic pole 15 consisting of a high- permeability magnetic material 7 identical to or different from the material 1 is arranged on the other side to move the recording medium in the direction 6. An electric current is passed through the coil 5 to record on the medium. When the records are reproduced, the auxiliary magnetic pole 15 is not arranged, the recorded medium is moved in the direction as shown by the reference figure 6, an electric current flows in the coil 5 by the change in the magnetic flux flowing into the annular head 10 and the records are reproduced by detecting the current. |
