PURPOSE:To eliminate a projection of a gap material, to decrease a spacing loss, and to improve the charactersitic and the reliability of a magnetic head by using the same material as a non-magnetic base body, as a gap material. CONSTITUTION:Instead of SiO2, Al2O3, etc. being a gap material which is used up to the present, a structure for using the same material as a material of a non-magnetic substrate, as the gap material is adopted. For instance, crystallized glass is used as a non-magnetic substrate which becomes a magnetic core, and on this substrate, sendust of 12mum thick and an insulating material (SiO2) of 5,000Angstrom thick are formed to two layers by spattering, and a layer of 24mum as a whole is formed. The obtained base body is worked to a magnetic core half body by means of polishing, cutting, etc., and in a part for forming a magnetic gap, crystallized glass is formed with a thickness of 1,000Angstrom each by spattering, and thereafter, the magnetic gap is formed by butting it. By using a magnetic core which is obtained in such a way, polishing, and bearing of a magnetic recording medium are executed, and therefore, a recording medium such as a metallic tape, etc. is run for three hours.
