Feed device for the specimen holder of a travelling microtome

A microtome (10) having a carriage for a knife holder, having a specimen holder (16) and a stop device (64) is described. The carriage (14) can be displaced along a guide (12) in a first direction in space. The specimen holder (16) has a cutting thickness feed device which is provided with a micrometer spindle (18) and with a swivel lever (22). The swivel lever (22) can be swivelled on the micrometer spindle (18) by means of a freewheeling device (20) through a defined angle which is determined by two stops (28, 30). The stop device (64) is provided on one end of the guide (12) and connected to the swivel lever (22) for the purpose of automatically feeding the cutting thickness of the clamping device (112) for the specimen which is to be cut thin. In this arrangement, the stop device (64) is connected to the swivel lever (22) by means of a connecting element (80, 80') which can be reversibly shortened. <IMAGE>
