PURPOSE:To conduct the decoking and lagging of a crude coke oven gas flowing path without use of any special fuel, by flowing a crude coke oven gas through one of a plurality of lines of crude coke oven gas flowing path and flowing an air sucked in a carbonizing chamber through the other flowing path as a decoking gas and conducting alternate turnover of the procedures. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of carbonizing chambers 11-1n, charging porous covers 211-2n4, risers 31-3n and gas withdrawal pipes 6, 7 are provided. For example, when the procedures during carbonization and after termination of coking are conducted in the carbonizing chamber 11, a crude coke oven gas is flowed in a withdrawal pipe 6 and a decoking gas is flowed in a withdrawal pipe 7, the gas is flowed through a valve 81 and the withdrawal pipe 6, a heat recovering apparatus 121-123, where heat is recovered and a solid-gas separating apparatus 131-133 where the solid is separated from the gas and led to gas refining equipment 17. After termination of coking, decoking is conducted by operating a blower 21, opening at least one of the charging porous covers 211-214 and flowing air by suction through the carbonizing chambers 11, the riser 31, the valve 9 and the withdrawal pipe 7. Since a plurality of carbonizing chamber are used, the change of gas to be flowed into gas withdrawal pipes 6 and 7 is properly conducted by turns.
