In a tennis racket, having a grip part and a grip shell which can be adjusted relative to the plane of the strings by twisting, it is proposed, in order to improve handling, that the grip part (1) have the shape of a cylindrical body (2) which is elongate in relation to its diameter and on which the grip shell (4), which is designed to have a bore (3) of approximately equal length, is pushed in a manner such as to be twistable relative to the grip part (1), that means (6, 10) for the axial tightening of the grip shell (4) relative to the grip part (1) are provided at the free end (5) of the grip part (1), and that means (12, 13, 14, 16, 18) for locking the grip shell (4) and grip part (1) against twisting are provided in the region of the transition from the shaft (11) to the grip part (1) and interact with the means (6, 10) for the purposes of axial tightening. <IMAGE>
