PURPOSE:To provide a lighter and smaller mold clamping apparatus which permits reduction in the size and weight of a tie bar by connecting a fine-diameter guide bar to the tip of the tie bar while a stopper abutting on the step at the boundary therebetween is provided adjoining a half nut. CONSTITUTION:A fine-diameter guide bar 82 is connected to the tip of a tie bar 74 to link a mobile die plate 80 with a stationary die plate 64. Along with this, a stopper 90 which abuts on a step 88 on the boundary between the tie bar 74 and the guide bar 82 is provided adjoining the outside of a half nut 86 to be meshed with a thread section 92 of the tie bar 74. When clamping the mold, a hydraulic oil is fed to a boost cylinder 76 to move the mobile die plate 68 to the stationary die plate 64 sliding the stopper 90 attached thereto over a guide rod 82 through a rod 80. When the stopper 90 abuts against the step 88, the half nut 86 is meshed with the thread of the tie bar 74 and then, the hydraulic oil is fed to an oil chamber 100 of a cylinder 70 to clamp the mold. |
