Effortless removal even of heavy objects from deep shelves can be achieved in that a roller rack is located on at least one of the shelves, which roller rack has a substantially shorter depth than the relevant shelf and whose resting surface lies with short spacing from the shelf resting surface, parallel thereto, and which is movable on rollers or sliders in the direction of the depth of the shelves from a position near to the back of the shelf unit into a position near to the front of the shelf unit, in such a way that, when the objects have been removed from the shelf resting surface in front of the roller rack, the latter can be moved, together with the objects piled in the roller rack from the depth of the shelf into a position which allows the objects to be removed, for example even from low-lying or high-lying shelves without difficulty.
