<p>A rock lifting device (20) having an elongated shaft (22) and at least two feather members (24). A pair of wedge surfaces (32 and 33) are formed on the outer surface of the shaft (22) adjacent its bottom end. The top end of each of the wedge surfaces (32 and 33) is located farther inwardly from the outer surface of the shaft (22) than its bottom end of the wedge surfaces (32 and 33). The wedge surfaces (32 and 33) are substantially planar. Each of the feather members (24) has a shank portion (40), an arm member (42) extending outwardly from its top end, and a wedge portion (45) extending from the bottom end of the shank portion (40). The wedge portion (45) has a wedge surface (48) upon its inner face. The wedge surfaces (48) of the feather members (24) mate with the wedge surfaces (32, 33) of the shaft (22). A transversely extending bore hole passes through the top of the shaft (22) and a clevis (28) attached to a chain (80) may be secured thereto. There is also structure (60) for securing the feather members (24) to the shaft (22).</p> |
