PURPOSE:To obtain a portable external storage device which has no electric contacting part and does not require a power source for backup, by using an electrically rewritable non-volatile memory element as the memory element of a file memory, and providing a main device body with an energy supply part, and the external storage device with a prescribed power converting part and an information transmitting receiving part. CONSTITUTION:Power is supplied from a power source 11 to a device body 1 and the device body 1 is operated. Meanwhile, an external storage device 2 has not a power source itself, but power can be taken out by the power converting part when the device 2 is allowed to face the device body 1 through a contactless connecting part 3 and an energy supply part 4 is operated, and this power is the power source of the external storage device 2. When information transmitting and receiving parts 5, 8, 6, and 9 of the device body 1 and the external storage device 2 are allowed to face each other respectively without contacting, information is transmitted from/to the device body 1 to/from the external storage device. A non-volatile semiconductor memory or the like is used as the memory element constituting a memory block 18. Thus, the external storage device 2 with no electric contacting part and does not reguire the power source for backup is obtained. |
