PURPOSE:To improve productivity while manufacturing at a low price by a method, in which a nickel-plated porous substrate, where an iron fiber made by the chatter vibration cutting is sintered, is filled with a slurried active material for forming a paste type negative plate. CONSTITUTION:Cadmium oxide, metal cadmium and nickel powder are made into a slurried state with an ethylene glycol solvent containing a small amount of carboxymethyl cellulose for making an active material. Then, a porous substrate, where an iron fiber is made by a chatter vibration cutting process utilizing the self-xecited oscillation in the turning process while being sintered and nickel-plated, is made to pass through a slurried liquid for filling an active material into porous body in order to form a paste type negative plate for an alkaline storge battery. Accordingly, an iron fiber sintered body able to be cheaply made can be used while requiring no forming treatment thus to simplify a manufacturing process of a battery. |
