In the case of a ground gulley for surface water in structures exposed to frost, a housing (1), which can be built into the base of the structure, has an inlet opening (3) and an outlet opening (9), it being possible to connect, in terms of pipelines, the inlet opening (3) to the surface of the base of the structure and the outlet opening (9) to a channel. In order to avoid, in a ground gulley of this type, drying out, and thus problems with odours, or blockage as a result of ice formation, an odour-seal flap (29) is pivotably mounted in the housing (1). Due to the influence of gravity, said flap bears against a sealing edge (27) or surface which is directed towards the outlet opening (9) and has a closed periphery which surrounds a passage opening (25), and, by the influence of outflowing surface water, this odour-seal flap can be raised away from said sealing edge or surface, in the direction towards the outlet opening (9), to release the passage opening (25). <IMAGE>
