The invention relates to a grinding tool, comprising a rotationally symmetrical carrier element and a grinding element which is held thereon and has grinding tongues which are radially supported or can be supported under the action of rotational movement of the grinding tool, and emerge out of the grinding element while maintaining the cohesion of the material. The grinding element and grinding tongues preferably consist of abrasive paper or plastic provided with abrasive additions, and the grinding tongues are in the shape of a rectangle, triangle or roofing tile.
