In a method of operating radiation sterilisation apparatus in cabinet or tunnel design with a low-turbulence air stream passed through a Hosch filter and directed toward the objects to be sterilised, the temperature necessary for sterilisation being generated by infrared quartz glass radiators, the air stream is to be kept at a much lower temperature than is needed for sterilisation, the sterile temperature of the objects being achieved as a result of interaction between the heat of radiation and the heat of convection. In the radiation sterilisation apparatus suitable for conduct of this method a heat exchanger controlled by a temperature sensor in the pressure chamber is provided for control of the temperature of the air stream. <IMAGE>
