In order to remove putty from between a glass pane and a glazing bar, the invention proposes a device which comprises a portable machine tool on which a coarsely toothed saw blade is fitted. The drive shaft terminates in a flush manner on that side of the saw blade directed away from the machine tool. The cutting depth of the coarsely toothed saw blade is delimited by a stop. Outside the cutting surface of the saw blade there are fitted spacers which project slightly over that surface of the coarsely toothed saw blade directed away from the machine tool. If the machine tool is held such that the spacers rest on the glass pane and the stop bears on the glazing bar, then the putty can be easily milled out.
