A coil forming apparatus for a stator coil of an electric machine, in which wire (1) is wound on spool members (6, 7) having a plurality of steps (6a, 6b, 6c, 6d, 7a, 7b, 7c, 7d), with increasing diameters, and the formed coils (16) are dropped into a coil-inserting tool (3) below the spool members (6, 7). A pushing-out blade (21) slides up and down in slits provided in the spool members (6, 7) so as to push the coils (16) formed on each step downwards. The pushing-out blade has a step shape corresponding to the profile of the spool steps, projects a predetermined length radially outwards from the external form, and the up and down-sliding stroke thereof is set to have nearly the same length as the width of each step. |
