SELECTIVE ABSORPTION OF HYDROGENE SULFIDE FROM GASES WHICH ALSO CONTAIN CARBON DIOXIDE

A substantially anhydrous solution of a tertiary amine and/or a hindered amine is used for the selective absorption of hydrogen sulfide from a gaz stream (10) which also contains carbon dioxide. A physical solvent may be used as a diluent for the amine. The hydrogen sulfide-containing absorption solution is passed to the stripping column (24) and the stripped absorption solution is recycled back to the absorber (10).
