In a method for adjusting the distances between the milling rollers (2, 2') in cylinder mills (1) of a cereal milling system, in each case one screen system (14) is connected downstream of the cylinder mills, a measurement signal being tapped off from the said screen system (14) and fed to a computer (7). The latter compares the said signal with a stored set value and, in the event of a deviation, automatically adjusts the distances between the milling rollers appropriately by means of a control signal and adjustment devices (4, 5). In this process, the measurement signal is only derived from the repelled material (17) or from the screenings (18) of the screen system (14) and is fed to the computer (7) only from a small number of selected key passages. In a cereal milling system for carrying out this method, a pulse-weight measuring system (24, 29, 30, 31) for continuously detecting the screening operation is assigned to the grits gauze(s) (14). <IMAGE>
