The invention is concerned with a transporting apparatus for transporting workpieces into and out of a machine tool, in particular a press. In order in this case to be able to convert the transporting apparatus quickly and simply to the sheets to be transported, a gripper frame which can be laid into two holders and at the front end of which the suction cups for receiving the sheets are arranged in a way known per se is proposed. At the same time as the pushing-in movement of the gripper frame into the holders, the electrical and pneumatic connection is established by plugs and sockets arranged at the rear end, in the pushing-in direction, of a holder and of the gripper frame.
