ERASABLE OPTICAL RECORDING SYSTEM

摘要

PURPOSE:To stabilize both the high energy state and the low energy state of a photochromic polymer at ordinary temp. by using a photochromic polymer whose reaction is controlled by the steric hindrance effect and allowing the reversible reaction between both energy states to occur only when heat rays are irradiated. CONSTITUTION:When rays such as UV rays of specified wavelength and heat rays such as a laser beam are simultaneously irradiated on a photochromic polymer as a recording medium, the local part of the photochromic substance irradiated with both rays is placed in a high energy state. When only the heat ray irradiation is then stopped while continuing the irradiation of rays of specified wavelength, the high energy state is stabilized even at ordinary temp. When the high energy state is returned to the low energy state, the part is irradiated with heat rays to soften the polymer and remove the steric hindrance effect and heat energy necessary for rapidly returning the molecular structure of the high energy state to that of the low energy state is supplied.
