PURPOSE:To improve the durability and corrosion resistance of the titled medium by providing a nonmagnetic protective layer contg. a lubricant on the surface of a ferromagnetic metallic thin film layer formed on a substrate and further furnishing a lubricant layer thereon. CONSTITUTION:A nonmagnetic inorg. protective layer 19 contg. a lubricant is formed on a ferromagnetic metallic thin film layer 18 by coating an inorg. material such as titanium and various solid lubricants on the ferromagnetic metallic thin film layer 18 by vacuum deposition, etc. A solid lubricant such as the metallic salt of fatty acid is appropriately used as the lubricant to be incorporated into the nonmagnetic inorg. protective layer 19. Such lubricants are contained on the surface of the nonmagnetic protective layer 19. The nonmagnetic inorg. protective layer 19 contg. such lubricants is excellently adhered to the ferromagnetic metallic thin film layer 18, the leaking property of a lubricant layer 21 to be further formed thereon is excellent since the layer 19 contains sulfur, the adsorptive force is also high and the layer 19 is excellently adhered to the lubricant layer 21. |
