摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a high output in long-wave recording and to control the peeling of a ferromagnetic metallic thin film layer and generation of cracks by forming >=2 layers of the ferromagnetic metallic thin film on a substrate and providing a thin film having a specified elastic modulus between the laminated ferromagnetic metallic thin film layers. CONSTITUTION:More than two layers of a ferromagnetic metallic thin film are formed on a substrate 1 and thin film layers 38 and 40 are formed between the respective ferromagnetic metallic thin film layers 37, 39 and 41. The elastic modulus of the thin film layers 38 and 40 is preferably regulated to 0.05X10<11>-3X10<11> dyne/cm<2>. When the thin film layer having such an elastic modulus is provided, the displacement of a magnetic recording medium formed by laminating >=2 layers of the ferromagnetic metallic thin film is absorbed by the thin film layer when the medium is bent and the stress exerted on the ferromagnetic metallic thin film layer can be excellently reduced. Consequently, the generation of cracks in the ferromagnetic metallic thin film layer is effectively controlled. The thin film layers 38 and 40 are formed by the plasma polymerization of an org. compd. or by the sputtering, etc., of a heat- resistant org. high molecular compd. and a plasma-polymerized film layer or a heat- resistant org. high molecular compd. film layer each having 0.05X10<11>-3X10<11> dyne/cm<2> elastic modulus can be easily formed.
