PURPOSE:To increase the number of effective printed characters per a unit length without wastefully consuming a ribbon, by detecting a head delivery marker during printing by a ribbon sensor and calculating the moving amount of a printing color ribbon. CONSTITUTION:For example, a color ribbon 10 consists of yellow, magenta and cyan and has the head delivery marker 11 of the next color between colors. The head delivery marker 11 of the next color is detected on the way of printing by a ribbon sensor 12 to be preliminarily stored and, after printing was finished, the moving amount X of the color ribbon 10 from the time of detection is calculated. Thereafter, the moving amount X is subtracted from the total feed amount L of the color ribbon 10 from a ribbon sensor position S to a printing position P. Then, the ribbon is driven by the subtraction result Y at the time when head delivery is performed. |
