When the user uses the tablet 216 to draw a character or a graph desired to be defined to the pattern as a dot pattern, after the data of dot pattern is written in a video RAM 212 as a binary data, the data is read and converted into the NAPLPS command and coded and the stored tentatively in a RAM 204. In this listing, when an unregistered position is designated on the pattern and a registration command is selected, the new definition code is written on the designated address area and registered. Thus, new definition registration, deletion or read is attained.
