<p>The disclosure relates to a tube coupling having a plastics housing body (10) with a central throughway (11) open at both ends for receiving lengths of tube (12) from either end to engage a central annular abutment (13). Sealing ring (15a, 22a), are provided spaced from the central abutment to engage the tubes and one end of the body has a collet (18) with resilient fingers (19) forced into gripping engagement with the tube by a tapered cam (17) in the body and the other end of the body has a metal adaptor bush (25) having a screw threaded bore to receive a screw threaded sleeve (31). The adaptor bush and sleeve have inclined faces (29) and (32) which between them act on an olive (33) encircling the pipe to grip the pipe when the sleeve is tightened into the bush and thereby lock the tube in the coupling. Other forms of adaptor are also described.</p> |
