PURPOSE:To shorten the working time and improve precision of a worked surface by carrying-out working in the relative revolution where the locus drawn by a working cutter is a spiral form, in the relation between the rotation and revolution of a working tool and a worked scroll member. CONSTITUTION:A worked scroll member 1 is revolved by turning a working tool 5. If, at this time, the curve of the side wall 8 of the worked scroll member coincides with the curve which a tool forms on the side wall along the side walls 9 and 10 of the working tool in the axial direction of the tool, the cutting edge surface 6 of the working tool contacts in spiral form with the grooved bottom surface of worked scroll member 1, and the locus drawn by one point on the cutting edge surface forms a spiral line. The working range for the groove bottom surface of the worked scroll member can be adjusted by selecting the turning diameter H of the working tool, tool which L, number M of revolu tion of the worked scroll member 1, and the number N of revolution of the working tool. Therefore, the grooved bottom surface 3 of the worked scroll member can be finished with high precision in a short time. |
