PURPOSE:To extend the life of a disc or a detecting stylus and prevent flaws of the disc by making the sliding pressure of the detecting stylus to the disc constant when a designated information signal track is retrieved in the track muting-on state. CONSTITUTION:When a signal indicating the tracking muting-on state is allowed to act upon an on/off switch part 25 during the retrieval of the designated information signal track to retrieve the designated information signal track in the tracking muting-on state, addition of an adding voltage to an adding part 17 is interrupted, and only a certain stylus pressure signal is added to prevent the unnecessary increase of a sliding control signal. When the designated information signal track is retrieved in the tracking muting-off state or a signal is detected normally from a disc 10 without retrieval, the slide control is increased on demand to eliminated foreign matters stuck to the disc 10 or a detecting stylus 12A, and the signal on the disc 10 is detected stably by the detecting stylus 12A.
