An arrangement for preparing food, in particular for roasting, comprises a roasting shelf 2 in which there is a heat source 3. The roasting shelf 2 is made of a material of the compound type, with an upper layer 7 of corrosion-resistant material and a lower layer 8 made of a material with better heat-conducting properties than the material in the upper layer 7.
