The device for depositing a cylindrical weld on a cylindrical pipe 1, which can be applied to the pipe 1 and is provided with a drive device 15 to impart a rotational movement to the welding tool around the pipe axis, is characterized in that it expands two rotatable rollers 10, 12, which are fastened to the device at a fixed interval from one another in the circumferential direction and a third drive roller 15, which is pivotally mounted and is connected to the drive device. The space between the rollers 10, 12, 15 in the cross-sectional direction of the pipe 1 has greater dimensions than the pipe 1. As the drive roller 15 is partially swivelled away, a sideways-facing insertion opening is produced for the pipe which likewise has greater dimensions than the pipe 1. <IMAGE>
