PURPOSE:To surely prevent the sticking of marine organism deposits to a sea water intake port, intake pipeline, etc., and to inhibit the corrosion thereof by electrolyzing part of the taken-in sea water in an electrolytic cell to incorporate electrode ions therein, incorporating the same into the taken-in sea water and using such sea water as cooling water. CONSTITUTION:The sea water is lifted by a pump 2 from the intake port part 1 and is supplied through the intake pipeline 3 to a cooling apparatus 4 of a mechanical device to cool the apparatus and thereafter the sea water is discharged from a drain pipeline 5. On the other hand, the lifted sea water is introduced through a branch pipeline 3a into the diaphragm-less electrolytic cell 6 where the sea water is electrolyzed by impressing a DC voltage to a copper alloy electrode 7 and an aluminum-zinc- iron alloy electrode 8. The electrolyte contg. the copper alloy ions and aluminum alloy ions is injected through an injecting pipeline 9 and a nozzle 10 into the intake port 1. Then the copper alloy ions prevent the sticking of the marine organisms to the intake port 1 and the intake pipeline 3 and the aluminum alloy ions inhibit the corrosion of the intake port 1, the intake pipeline 3, the cooling apparatus 4, etc.
