PURPOSE:To enable blank pages with arbitrary lengths to be provided on the upstream and downstream sides of a joint position, by a system wherein clock signals are supplied to the first counter set into a counting action by an output from a sensor for detecting a joint position and the second counter set into a counting action by an output from the first counter, and a writing operation is stopped and restarted by outputs from the counters. CONSTITUTION:The counter 31 is supplied with a clock signal from an output- controlling part 34 each time a paper 5 is fed forward by a predetermined length, so that feeding of the paper 5 by an amount equal to the distance between points A and E is detected by counting the clock signals after receiving a signal indicative of detection of a mark 52 from the sensor 4. At this time, a stopping signal is sent to the part 34 to stop writing of data from a page buffer 25. On receiving an output from the counter 31, the counter 32 starts counting, and after counting a number of clock signals corresponding to the process of providing the paper 5 with 4 blank pages, the counter 32 sends a starting signal for restarting the writing operation to the part 34. When the starting signal is received, writing of data from the page buffer at a writing point 8' is restarted. Accordingly, two-page amounts of blank parts can be provided on the upstream and downstream sides of the joint position of the paper 5. |
