PURPOSE:To produce the titled polymer useful for the paper-making assistant, in high productivity, at a low cost, by spreading a specific acrylate monomer containing an amino group on a moving carrier in the form of a layer, polymerizing the monomer continuously under specific condition and cutting the polymer with a shearing stress in the form of a rod, etc., in hot state. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution containing 75-90wt% one or more monomers comprising the compound having the structure of formula [R<1> is H or CH3; R<2> and R<3> are CH3 or CH2CH3; A is group of formula -O-CnH2n- (n is 2-3), formula -NH-CnH2n-, etc.]and/or its salt and/or the above compound quaternarized with an alkylation agent, is spread on a moving carrier in the form of a layer having a thickness of <=40mm, and polymerized continuously. After the completion of the polymerization, the polymer is separated from the carrier before the center part of the produced water-containing polymer is cooled below the Vicat softening point of the water-containing polymer. The separated polymer is cut in the form of a rod or cube with shearing stress in hot state and, if necessary, crushed to a diameter of <=20mm to obtain the objective polymer.
