PURPOSE:To copy images with high clearness and density and favorable reproduction property, by a method wherein an image is formed by using a toner mixed or coated with a color forming composition capable of generating heat through a chemical reaction, the composition is melted by heating by the use of a heated roller to bring the composition into the chemical reaction, thereby generating heat with the result that a thermally transferrable layer provided on the back of a base is melted and transferred onto an ordinary paper. CONSTITUTION:The heated roller 12 is maintained at a temperature at which the thermally transferrable layer 4 is not melted, is pressed against a toner image 11, and is rolled in the direction of an arrow. When heating and pressing are conducted by the roller 12 and a pressure roller 13, for example, tris(acrolyloxyethyl)isocyanurate of a heating agent 8 having a melting point of 53 deg.C and lauroyl peroxide of a heating agent 9 having a melting point of 51 deg.C are melted together, and a radical polymerization reaction takes place to generate heat at 80-95 deg.C. The heat thus generated in a pattern is transmitted through the base 3 to raise the temperature of the thermally transferrable layer 4 having a melting point of 85-90 deg.C, so that the layer 4 is melted and transferred to the ordinary paper 14. Thereafter, the transferred layer is rapidly cooled, whereby a melted and solidified layer (b) fixed to the paper 14 is formed. |
