PURPOSE:To cure a poly(arylene sulfide) resin in a short time efficiently, by heat-treating the resin in the presence of a specific metallic halide in an oxygen- containing gas at a temperature <= the melting point of the resin. CONSTITUTION:(A) A ply(arylene sulfide) resin having a repeating unit shown by the formula -R-S-(R is phenylene, biphenylene, naphthalene, biphenylene ether, or their lower alkyl-substituted derivative) and (B) 0.1-15wt%, preferably 0.5-10wt% (based on the component A) of a halide of a metal of group VIII or group IB of periodic table, preferably chloride, iodide, or bromide of the metal, especially preferably ferric chloride, cupric chloride, etc. are dissolved in or dispersed into preferably an alcohol, the liquid is distilled away, the components A and B are blended, and heat-treated at <= the melting point of the component and 10-100 deg.C in an oxygen-containing gas, so that the component A is cured.
