<p>PURPOSE:To reduce discrimination area to a half as before and to improve the resolution of position detection by making light emitting elements and photodetecting elements to correspond to each other in the 1st slanting direction of 45 deg. and in the 2nd slanting direction of -45 deg.. CONSTITUTION:Light emitting elements are turned on, one by one, in the order of LEDs 5, 4, 6, 3, 12, 7, 2, 8, and 1 and it is checked whether or not photodetecting elements LRs 4, 5, 3, 6, 12, 2, 7, 1, and 8 corresponding to the respective light emitting elements in the 2nd slanting direction (-45 deg.) detect light. Then, the light emitting elements are turned on, one by one, in the order of LEs 7, 6, 8, 5, 11, 1, 4, 2, and 3 and it is checked whether or not the photodetecting elements LRs 6, 7, 5, 8, 11, 4, 1, 3, and 2 corresponding to the light emitting elements in the 1st slanting direction (45 deg.) photodetect light. Consequently, the positions of an indicated point in the 1st and the 2nd slanting directions are detected and the area of discrimination is as shown by a dotted line.</p> |
