PURPOSE:To produce a magnet for multipolar magnetization which exhibits high magnetic characteristics in outside peripheral magnetization by compressing a billet consisting of an alloy for an Mn-Al-C magnet and having an axisymmetrical shape at an adequate temp. and molding the same to an even- angled prism shape. CONSTITUTION:The billet consisting of the alloy for the Mn-Al-C magnet and having the axisymmetrical shape such as circular columnar shape is subjected to compression working in the axial direction of the billet in a 530-830 deg.C, more preferably 560-760 deg.C range and is molded in the sectional shape of the outside peripheral surface to the (2n+2) angular shape (n=1, 2, 3...). The compression working may be executed in the state of restraining partly the outside peripheral surface of the billet. The anisotropic magnet which is made anisotropic along the magnetic path having poles at the angle parts of the polygonal shape in the outside peripheral magnetization and exhibits the high magnetic characteristics is obtd. by the above-mentioned method.
