PURPOSE:To enable the prevention of outflow of oil to a refrigerating cycle by communicating the upper and lower sides of the motor chamber in a closed type compressor through a communicating pipe which is installed outside the closed vessel so that the discharge gas passage is separated independently from the oil return passage. CONSTITUTION:In the upper part inside the vessel of a closed type scroll compressor, a compression mechanism part is provided, and in the lower part an electric motor M is provided. The upper chamber 17a and lower chamber 17b of the electric motor is communicated by the clearances 45 and 47 between the stator 9b and the rotor 9a of the electric motor M and a communicating pipe 60 which is installed outside the closed vessel. Consequently, oil in the discharge gas introduced into the motor chamber is separated in both the upper and lower chambers and the discharge gas is led to a discharge pipe 19 through the clearances 45 and 47 between the stator and rotor, and oil separated in the upper chamber is led to the oil receiver at the lower part inside the vessel through the communicating pipe 60. Thus, the blowing up of oil due to discharge gas is prevented, and amount of oil flowing out to a refrigerating cycle is also decreased.
