PURPOSE:To prevent the interruption of a scroll display of a map, by utilizing an updating map information necessary for the movement of a reading area through fast transferring it to an image memory from a buffer memory. CONSTITUTION:In the scroll of a display map to be displayed 9, map information in a memory block to which a reading area for display belongs is transferred fast to the memory block in which a map is memorized as direction opposite to the movement of own vehicle while the reading start position for display is changed to where the map information is transferred when the reading area for display reaches the part corresponding to the end of the map memorized into an image memory 7. Then, the display map is automatically updated by fast transferring the map information at a new map block adjacent to an empty memory block where the map information is transferred. The adjacent map information in the perimeter of the map block memorized in the memory 7 is read out of an external memory 4 and stored into the buffer memory 10 thereby enabling smooth implementation of continuous updating of the display map. |
