PURPOSE:To reduce cooling cost of fermentation tank and to prevent contamination of various germs, by cultivating a new strain capable of producing butyric acid highly in a medium, accumulating butyric acid, and collecting it. CONSTITUTION:New strain Clostridium thermosaccharolyticum strain 6957, an anaerobic thermophilic bacterium, capable of producing butyric acid, is cultivated at a high temperature about 60 deg.C, and butyric acid is collected. Clostridium thermosaccharolyticum strain 6957 is given in trust as FERM P-8071 by Fermentation Research Institute of Agency of Industrial Science and Technol ogy, growth temperature is 45-65 deg.C, preferably 55-62 deg.C and the ratio of butyric acid to the reaction product is usually 50-65wt%. |
