PURPOSE:To print a presentable graphic using a compact and simple-structure serial thermal printer by using outermost heating elements for balancing a temperature distribution or heating an outermost heating element at higher temperature then inner heating elements. CONSTITUTION:When two heating elements 1, 9 located at the extreme outer end are not used for printing and the second heating elements 2, 8 from the outer end are used for printing, the temperature is adjusted to a moderate level within which printing is not performed as a supplementary step for preventing the loss of heat of the heating elements 2, 8. When an electric current is applied to a line 2c and also to alone 3c, the heating element 1 is likewise moderately heated as described previously. However, even when the line 3c is not printed, the temperature should be adjusted to a moderate level with a favorable effect. In addition, the temperatures 1h, 2h, 8h and 9h corresponding to the 4 heating elements 1, 2, 8 and 9 at both outer ends of a serial thermal head 10 can be increased compared with other heating elements 3h-7h with the same effect. |
