PURPOSE:To add a function simultaneously at every input of a character and to add a function after an input is completed by storing in an attribute memory based on the count value of an address counter by operating an operating means when a function information is latched by a latch circuit. CONSTITUTION:When a function is added after a sentence is inputted, a cursor key 7 is pressed down until a cursor 13 reaches a desired character position and a function key 6 is pressed down, a latch circuit 12 latches a function information signal S6a. Then, when the cursor 13 is operated by the cursor key 7, an access signal S7 is outputted, an attribute memory 11 stores a function information signal S12 and adds the function to a character on the screen of a CRT 3. When adding the function at every operation of a character key 8, if the function key is pressed down, a character information signal S8a and an access signal S8b are outputted to store the character information in a character memory 9 and the function information in the attribute memory 11 and on the screen, the character to which the function is added is displayed.
