PURPOSE:To sample and hold the level of an inclined signal by sample pulse synchronous with a specified signal to be phase compared and make the hold output a phase error signal by generating the inclined signal basing on output pulse of a frequency dividing device. CONSTITUTION:A reference oscillator 1 is made of, for instance, a crystal oscillator, and generates a reference signal of frequency N times horizontal frequency fH. A reference signal A passed through an AND gate 12 is divided into 1/N by a counter 13 and becomes a pulse signal B of horizontal frequency fH, and supplied to an MMV2. Output of the MMV2 becomes input of one side of two input OR gate 14, and the output C becomes a control signal of a switch 4. An inclined signal D, output of a capacitor 3 is impressed to a sample switch 7 through a buffer 6 and the sample output is held by a hold capacitor 8. The hold output becomes a phase error signal through a buffer 18.
