PURPOSE:To facilitate confirming printed images, by providing a carriage with an illuminating means for illuminating a printed part of a paper. CONSTITUTION:Light from a light source 19 fitted to the carriage 11 is focused on the printed part to facilitate confirming the printed images. namely,the light from the light source 19 is focused by a reflector 20 on an illumination region (printed part) which is hatched in the figure, thereby facilitating confirming the characters or the like in the region. However, supplying power source to the light source 19 throughout the period in which an electronic typewriter is operated will increase power consumption, and is not necessary. Accordingly, illumination is conducted only for a predetermined period of time during printing. |
