PURPOSE:To facilitate construction of a gate, by a method wherein, after watertight seals are formed to all the openings of a gate built in a shop, the gate is floated and tugged to a given position at a pier, and the seals are removed under a temporarily installed state. CONSTITUTION:A gate body 1 is built in a shop, and after watertight seals are formed to all openings, the body 1, so formed as to serve as a float, is floated on a water way 4. The body 1 is tugged to a pier 5, and is disposed in a position at the pier 5. After a wire 9 is stretched between a hoist 7 and a hook 8 at the forward end of a winding wire, the air in the float chamber of the body 1 is bled to bring the body 1 into an upright state, and the body 1 is lifted up from a position in water. Further, after the watertight seal of the body 1 is removed and equipment is mounted, the body 1 is regularly mounted.
