PURPOSE:To prevent the room temperature from varying in a large range, to prolong the life of a compressor and to prevent the room temperature from rising excessively by setting a minimum ON time in which a compressor is ON and an upper limit temperature more than the set temperature, and turning OFF the compressor only when the room temperature reaches an upper limit temperature before the lapse of the minimum ON time. CONSTITUTION:The room temperature is detected by a room temperature detection circuit 1, and is introduced into a microcomputer 4 through an A/D converter 2. By the turning ON of a compressor 6, the room temperature increases and reaches a set temperature at a time t3. However, since the minimum OFF time is not passed yet, no output is produced from a timer circuit and the compressor 6 remains in ON state. The compressor is not turned OFF, before it becomes a time t4 at which the minimum OFF time has passed. When the compressor 6 is turned OFF, the room temperature is lowered, and the compressor is turned ON at a time t5 where 6 minutes which are the maximum OFF time have passed. When the room temperature reaches the upper limit temperature Th at a time t6 before the lapse of three minutes which are the minimum ON time after turning ON of the compressor 6.
