A voice-activated voice emulation or echo generator employs digital voice recording technology to digitize several spoken words of audio, using adaptive delta modulation encoding. The audio information is stored in a dynamic memory 1 and is played back by reconverting the data back into audio, to drive a loudspeaker. After recording an utterance, the device thus mimics, or echos the spoken word or phrased back to the listener. It is intended for battery operation in a toy, or in any commercial application requiring rapid and automatic repetition of a spoken word or phrase, such as a speech learning aid for the deaf. <IMAGE> |
