In sorption heat pumps, sorption refrigerating machines and heat transformers of previously known construction which work with solid solutions, it is not possible, for reasons of construction and mode of operation, to combine an at least quasi continuous mode of working with an internal heat exchange between the solution which contains a great quantity of refrigerant and the solution which contains a smaller quantity of refrigerant, in such a manner that the containers run through approximately the entire difference between adsorption and desorption temperature solely as a result of the effect of this internal heat exchange. The thermal ratio is, however, increased by this internal heat exchange. The invention "Apparatus for carrying out adsorption, desorption and internal heat exchange" achieves this aim as follows: The total quantity of the solid solution is distributed over a number of containers 1 to 8, cf. Fig. 1. The containers are passed through successively by a self-contained circuit pipe 9 in such a manner that the containers and the solution situated in them are in thermal contact with the heat transfer medium circulating in the circuit pipe. A temperature profile which exists in this container arrangement is at the same time kept in rotation in such a manner that it revolves in the same direction of rotation as the heat transfer medium in the circuit pipe and that the containers carry out mutually temporally shifted temperature variations.
